What it is

UBC, SFU and UVic all take applications through EducationPlannerBC. Students make one account and pick each university.

UBC's deadline for its biggest entrance awards (Presidential Scholars, Centennial Scholars, Beyond Tomorrow) is December 1, 2026, six weeks before its regular deadline. Many families only learn this in January.

Most UBC applicants also write a personal profile about their activities and what they learned. Start drafting it in October.

Universities make offers from November to June based on Grade 11 and 12 marks. All courses, including online ones, must be finished by June 30.

How to register

  1. Make an EducationPlannerBC account and keep the profile up to date.
  2. Choose UBC, SFU or UVic and the programs. SFU high school applications are open from October 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027.
  3. Apply to UBC by December 1, 2026 to be considered for its major entrance scholarships, or by January 15, 2027 at the latest.
  4. Watch for emails asking for grades or documents. UVic gives early offers to students who send grades by early December.

How to prepare

  • Check each program's required Grade 12 courses now, while there is still time to change a timetable.
  • Make a list of activities, jobs, family responsibilities and awards from Grades 10–12 for the UBC personal profile.
  • Read the Loran and Schulich Leader pages if your child has strong leadership. Their deadlines are earlier.

Common questions

When is the UBC application deadline for 2027?

January 15, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. To be considered for UBC's major entrance awards, apply by December 1, 2026.

When do SFU and UVic applications close?

SFU high school applications for Fall 2027 close January 31, 2027. UVic's deadline for most degree programs is January 31.

Do BC students apply to each university separately?

They use one EducationPlannerBC account and choose each university there. Each university still makes its own decision.
