FirstBell is a free, independent guide for families. It isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any school district, school, the Province of British Columbia or any program it lists.

Always confirm with the official source

We take care to get dates and rules right, and every page links to its official source. But districts and organizers change their dates, rules and programs, sometimes without notice. Before you register, apply, move house or make any decision, confirm the details with the school district or organizer. When an official source and FirstBell disagree, the official source is right.

About school ratings

School ratings compare each school's results on provincial assessments and graduation rates with the BC average, using the Province's open data. They mostly reflect who attends a school, not only how well it teaches, and they leave out much of what makes a school right for a child. Use them as one input, not a verdict.

No guarantee of a place

Living in a catchment, applying on time, or being eligible for a program gives priority or a chance, not a guaranteed place. Districts decide placements.
