UBC Geering Up summer STEM camps
Week-long science, engineering and coding day camps run by UBC for kids entering Grades 1–12. Registration opened on February 18 in 2026.

- In-person day camps. In 2026, elementary camps ran at UBC Vancouver, Richmond, South Surrey, Port Coquitlam, North Vancouver and UBC Okanagan. High school programs ran at UBC Vancouver, UBC Okanagan and South Surrey.

- $410–$490 a week for elementary camps in 2026. High school programs were $440–$500. 2027 prices are not announced yet.

What it is
Geering Up is UBC's engineering and science outreach program. In summer it runs week-long day camps from July through August.
Elementary camps are for kids entering Grades 1–7. Themes in 2026 included Miniminds, STEAM, Maker, Introduction to Engineering and coding camps such as Code Quest.
High school programs are for students entering Grades 8–12, with themes like Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics and Bioinformatics.
Camps run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Grades are based on the grade your child is entering in the fall.
A good fit if: Kids who like building, experimenting and coding, and want a hands-on summer week at a university.
How to register
- Register online through the Geering Up camp registration system linked from the camps pages.
- In 2026, public registration opened February 18 at 9 a.m. UBC faculty and staff had 24 hours of early access from February 17.
- Registration for each week closes at 11:59 p.m. on the Sunday before that camp starts, if spaces are left.
- Bursaries can cover up to 90% of camp fees. You apply online, hear back in about three weeks, and receive a discount code to use when registering. One bursary per child per summer. Summer 2026 bursaries are closed, so join the Geering Up mailing list to hear when 2027 applications open.

- Pick themes and weeks before registration day so you can book quickly.
- Check the grade your child will be entering in the fall, since that decides which camps they can join.
