What it is

Geering Up is UBC's engineering and science outreach program. Its Saturday clubs meet for about ten weeks on the UBC Vancouver campus.

Fall 2026 clubs include Under the Sea (Grades 1–2), All About Engineering (Grades 3–4), Space Explorers and Crazy Creatures (Grades 5–7), Innovator's Workshop (Grades 8–9) and Prosthetics & Pulses (Grades 10–12).

Geering Up also runs clubs in Kelowna and summer camps.

A good fit if: Kids who like hands-on building and experiments and want a regular weekend activity.

How to register

  1. Parents register directly on the Geering Up website. The fall 2026 session started September 19.
  2. Winter 2027 club dates aren't posted yet. Bursary applications for winter clubs open in late fall 2026.
  3. To get a bursary, apply first. You'll hear back by email in 2–3 weeks and get a coupon code to register. There's one bursary per child per season.

  • No experience needed. Pick a club that matches your child's grade and interests.
