What it is

Kindergarten for 2027–28 is for children born in 2022.

Early French Immersion is at École Cedardale (an IB Primary Years school, with an extra IB fee) and École Pauline Johnson. There are two separate lotteries. List both schools to be in both.

Late French Immersion starts in Grade 6 at École Pauline Johnson only.

Out-of-catchment and out-of-district applications for Grades 1–12 open later, on January 15, 2027.

A good fit if: Families in or near West Vancouver with a child born in 2022.

How to register

  1. Apply online from 8 a.m. October 15, 2026. All kindergarten students (in-catchment, in-district and out-of-district) can apply from that date.
  2. For French Immersion, submit the application and all documents between October 15 and 3 p.m. November 30, 2026.

How to prepare

  • Have proof of address and your child's birth certificate ready before October 15.
  • Decide whether to list both French Immersion schools.

Common questions

Is French Immersion first-come, first-served in West Vancouver?

No. Kindergarten French Immersion places are decided by lottery. Every complete application in by November 30 has the same chance.

Can my child join French Immersion in Grade 1?

Possibly, until the end of Term One, if there's space.
