What it is

Students play delegates from different countries and debate world issues in committees, like a mini United Nations.

VMUN says it is the largest high-school-student-organized Model UN conference in North America, with over 1,000 high school students each year.

The 2027 conference is the 26th session, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

A good fit if: High school students who like debate, history, politics or public speaking.

How to register

  1. A sponsor teacher registers the school first. Students can only register after their school has.
  2. Ask a social studies teacher or your school's Model UN club now. Early registration ends October 16.

How to prepare

  • Read the background guide for your committee once it's posted, and research your country's position.
  • Practise a one-minute opening speech and writing a short resolution.
