What it is
The South Fraser fair is open to all Grade 7–12 students at Surrey or Delta public and independent schools.
Students present a project to judges at the KPU Surrey Conference Centre. Projects can be done alone or with a partner.
Top projects go on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair. Four projects from this fair competed there in 2026.
A good fit if: Grade 7–12 students in Surrey and Delta who want to take a school project further.
How to register
- Students apply online through the fair website. In 2026, applications closed March 16.
- Each school has a limit on how many projects it can send. Check the eligibility page and ask your child's teacher.
- The student, a sponsor teacher and a parent all sign a consent form.
- If you live in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond or the North Shore, your child enters the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair instead.
How to prepare
- The fair website has a student resources page and ethics forms. The organizers suggest starting your project now.
- The Science Fair Foundation of BC offers small project grants of $50 to $200. Last year, applications closed in February.
