What it is

Future Science Leaders is a weekly after-school program at Science World in Vancouver. Students do lab work and science projects, and meet scientists and other STEM professionals.

It's for students entering Grade 10 or 11 in September of their program year, so students apply while in Grade 9 or 10.

The first year is called Discover. Students who finish can apply for an optional second year called Innovate.

A good fit if: Grade 9 and 10 students who love science and want regular hands-on lab time outside school.

How to register

  1. Students apply online at scienceworld.ca/futurescienceleaders. The application includes short-answer questions and one academic reference.
  2. Selected applicants are invited to an in-person interview with a group activity.
  3. For the 2025–26 program, applications ran February 1 to April 30, 2025, with interviews in May and seats offered in June. Sign up on the Science World page to hear about the next cohort.

How to prepare
