What it is
Students write and memorize an original 3–5 minute speech in French. They use the same speech at every level.
There are categories for Core French, extended or intensive French, late immersion, early immersion and francophone students, so students compete with others at a similar level.
It runs from class to district, then the BC & Yukon semi-finals, then a national final for Grades 11–12.
BC prizes were $500, $250 and $150, plus scholarships for Grade 11–12 winners.
A good fit if: French learners in any program who are confident speakers, or want to become one.
