What it is

Early French Immersion (Kindergarten or Grade 1 entry) is offered at Aubrey, Brantford, Inman/Cascade Heights, Marlborough, Seaforth, Sperling and Westridge.

Late French Immersion (Grade 6 entry, so apply in Grade 5) is offered at Armstrong and Marlborough.

All applications received in February have equal priority. A lottery in early March decides places, in this order: siblings in catchment, in-catchment, siblings out of catchment, licensed childcare attendees in catchment, cross-district Burnaby residents, then out-of-district residents.

Families must live in Burnaby to register.

A good fit if: Burnaby families who want their child to become bilingual in French.

How to register

  1. Complete online preliminary registration at your catchment school in February.
  2. Submit the District Language Program Online Application in February.
  3. Wait for the lottery result in early March.

How to prepare

  • Have proof of Burnaby residency ready.
  • Applying on the first day doesn't help, since all February applications are equal.
